TROUBLE
by Selia Qynn 11/20/91

I was born in deep December as night engulfed the day.
And I grew up against my will someplace faraway.
Had my share of trouble. Had my share of love.
Probably isn't much I haven't had my share of.

I used to search for reasons. Used to search for truth.
Lately I have taken to searching for my youth.
It's so much more elusive than any answer ever was.
Sometimes a good reason now is "Just because."

Trouble can sometimes be
A blessing in disguise,
You don't see until it hits you
Right between the eyes.
And you're supposed to feel so thankful
For the lesson to be learned.
Tell me where's the purpose in this Cosmic burn?

Some folks search forever. Some don't seem to care.
Me, I wander through this sea of dull despair,
Looking for expression, freedom in my life.
Just let me have my dreamlands. Don't even ask me why.

Lloyd's got that longing for a family in his life.
Pam wants to be something more than a battered wife.
Dan can't handle anything that isn't status quo.
Stanley left us years ago searching for his soul.

David wants to serve but scared it might be wrong;
Searching astrologically for places to belong.
And me, I seek that perfect transit like a surfer seeks the wave.
And I still crave the highs I wish I didn't crave.

Trouble can sometimes be
A blessing in disguise,
You don't see until it hits you
Right between the eyes.
And you're supposed to feel so thankful
For the lesson to be learned.
Tell me where's the purpose in this Cosmic burn?

An eagle in the distance flies. Of being him, I fantasize.
Oh, Great One circling way up high, my spirit soars with you.

Nature's music ever sings. To my ear a gift she brings;
Roaring canyons, laughing streams.
Searchers in a lost land. Walkers on a lonely strand.
Searching for the lost part. Lovers of the lonely heart.
